Up Pine Street

Community and neighborhood histories are so important, so if you know of any published histories, please let me know and I would be happy to give them a special mention.

This particular history of Cambridge, Maryland, is actually included in two books published by David “Nicky” Henry.  The one shown here is of his first pictorial, an amazing collection showing Pine Street at a time when it was thriving neighborhood, drawing visitors from long distances; a community of self-sustaining businesses, organizations, and educational institutions.  The book is chock-full of photographs of Cambridge, but take a look and you will also see photos of a few other buildings throughout Dorchester County, particularly of old schools, many of which are long gone.  If you are interested in obtaining a copy of Henry’s book, or his second pictorial book, his contact information are at this website link.  David has presented this history to organizations and he gives a fascinating talk, giving a vividly exciting history of Cambridge.               — Linda Duyer
